Born 1950 in Boksburg, died 2008.

Studied graphic design at Pretoria Technikon (obtained his diploma in 1975), and lithography in Belgium. Became a full-time artist, with regular shows, the last one at the Goodman Gallery in 1992. Work selected for 1990 Vita Art Now exhibition and the 1991 Cape Triennial exhibition. In 1994 he stopped painting full-time and opened his first restaurant, Kitchen Boy in Troyeville, Johannesburg, after which he primarily became known as restaurateur and food writer for i.a. Business Day and Rapport. After suffering a stroke in 2000, Kruger learned to draw and paint again, but mostly on commission, and he also wrote on food and art.

His work is held in a number of public collections, including the SA National Gallery, the Johannesburg Art Gallery and the Pretoria Art Museum.
