


Born 1928 at Hartebeesfontein, Transvaal; died Pretoria 1990.
Studies for a degree in fine art at the University of the Witwatersrand 1948-1952 and wins a bursary for two years of post-graduate study; further studies at the Slade School of Arts, London, and the Academy of André Lhôte in Paris. Obtains teaching diploma, University of the Free State, 1956.
Holds various teaching positions. Travels in Israel, Turkey and Greece, and later works in Greece, Rome and Paris, and with Maud Sumner in the Namib Desert. Moves to Cape Town in 1970, but in 1978 returns to Pretoria, where she falls ill in 1988 and dies on 15 April 1990.
Anna Vorster took part in numerous exhibitions, in South Africa and overseas, including the 1963 Sao Paulo Biennale and the 1966 Venice Biennale.
